Young talent is the highlight of this concert as the Inland Valley Symphony, directed by Maestro Anthony Parnther, features concerto performances by the winners of the 2012 Young Artist Competition: • 1st Place - Elias Butterfield, Piano, Beethoven: Piano Concerto No. 3, 1st mvt. • 2nd Place - Clara Truong, Piano, Beethoven: Piano Concerto No. 2, 3rd mvt. • 3rd Place - Derrick Tiu, Violin, Sarasate: Zigeunerweisen, Op. 20 • 4th Place - Bret Paddock, Piano, Gershwin: Rhapsody in Blue We are pleased to announce a debut appearance on this program by our two youngest youth ensembles, under the direction of Karen Thurman-Palmer. Prelude (beginning strings) and Attacca (intermediate orchestra) will each perform two selections. The Inland Valley Youth Symphony will play the beautiful "Nimrod" from Elgar's Enigma Variations and join IVS for the concert's finale on Andrew Lloyd Webber's ever popular "Phantom of the Opera!"
